5/5/26 Update: After walking the trails, I stumbled upon two mothers, and about five kids. I noticed, Specifically one of the little boys who was holding a miniature metal blade shovel. I kindly asked him what you looking for? too Which one of the mother's eagerly replied, oh, nothing. We just brought it out here because it's a fun toy to play with. I said There shouldn't be any shovels at the park because it's illegal to dig on the embankment. Then, the other mothers quickly changed the topic and said well we are not from here. I replied, nobody is. I am. I was born in this town. Nobody seems interested in fact one of the little children kept trying to interrupt. Excuse me about 20 times. I replied yes? They said those are our bags up there. As I contuined my walk the other mother's said dont worry sweetie she's not going to take your snacks. (Lady I dont want your snacks I want your kids to stop creating irreversible damage) Further up the trail I noticed a cave structure. As a native it frustrates me that every transplant uses the, "i'm not from here excuse". Learn before you come down to a new area and destroy it. I included pictures.. For those who are also new here.... I love this precious gem. I have been coming here for over 10 years and each time I visit. It's never the same. This place was as quite as the morning mist. The only spoken words where the bugs and birds. Unfortunately, after visiting recently things save changed once again this time the sound of bulldozers and the constant peeping from the machines that torn apart the nearby land to make way for, no surprise a new development. More then 400 homes parked next door. Its saddens me. In my sadness I try and stay positive and pray that the newcomers will honor this gems as much as I have in the prior years. Rye is a natural spring. Please protect our ecosystems and cherish this gem as much as I have. Great place to camp. Take your kids swimming in the river. There are rumors of gators in these waters. YES sometimes you'll run into a small juvenile but the larger crocks stay by the dam. Like 3 miles away. You're more likely to see a manatee or sawfish before you see a gator. Plenty of nature trailes. Shaded and wooded, and sandy. Plenty of fun to be had. Enjoy!

I visited Rye Preserve on an amazing Winter day and found myself entirely wonderstruck. I had never seen a river sculpted so deeply into the land, so raw and so beautiful. I felt like I had been transported out west as I was high up on a tall sandy riverbank and the water flowed below as if I was in a canyon, only this was Florida. The trails seemed endless, the water feature breathtaking, the sand like moon‐sculpted shifts untouched by footprints. The land had endured storms, (Hurricane 2024), trees had fallen, but the river still whispered its ancient song. In winter the scene was pristine and unexpected. I wore boots because I sensed snakes might hide, though I saw none and did not see alligators in winter, just pure untouched edge of land and water. I will return soon to wander further, explore hidden corners, and let this place show itself in slow motion. The water was clean and beautiful a timeless scene of Florida Beauty. A must see. One of our favorite mature walks. Plenty of shade and areas out in the open. There are atleast 3 different trails listed by colors. We took the red trail this time but maybe just 0.25mi then we took a detour down the side of the trail to the creek then walked the creek another 1mi in each direction. It was a beautiful walk for the whole family. There's a playground, fireplace, dogs must be leashed but are welcomed, and there's plenty of parking! Enjoy!

Rye Preserve is our family's FAVORITE local day trip! Fresh water where we can swim, play, adventure, roam free, the dog can run, and we can hunt for shark teeth and other fossils! Last week I found a broken megalodon tooth... So I know they're out there!!!

Great for a for a full day of shark tooth hunting, kayaking, swimming, rope swing. DO NOT jump off the bridge into the water. The drunk locals do this, it's a bad idea, the water is not deep and someone breaks a leg there every weekend. There are boaters so be ware when swimming, and some Gators but not anywhere near the park enterence.

Are you kidding me with the family releasing a photo full of balloons at a NATURE PRESERVE!!!! that’s the usual behavior for rye. it is a nice place , clean up after yourself. Great trails to enjoy, lots of treats.

My girlfriend and I rode all the trails and the majority of them we had to turn around and go back because of trees crossing the trails or big branches. Corrosion near the big canal could not ride there. I reported that all the trails need to be clean To be equine friendly. All the trails are lovely and would be absolutely wonderful if you could actually ride through and complete the entire trails. It would be nice if there was a sign put by the wash area(hose bib and hose) located in the parking lot. We had a difficult time being able to use that for our horses for water due to vehicles blocking it. Also, we noticed 1 inch by half inch pipes sticking up from the ground near one of the entrances I believe it was the crossover Red Trail if a horse steps on that he will go lane. Again if the trails are all cleaned so equine people could enjoy the trails on their horses that would be wonderful. Not equine friendly at this time. It is friendly for any hikers of course they can go under the branches or climb over them. Looking forward to going back after it has been cleaned.
